That being a lot more than my two cents, I will stop.

#ACDSEE FORUM FREE#

It is very fast, and I love the hassle free way it prints.

It handles a wide variety of file formats. I think ACDSee will be a better organizer for multimedia projects. I own both and just can't decide which I Love/Hate the most. All over the world we are having issues with AcdSee and Norton, there are so many forums on both platforms discussing it but the in both camps remain silent.

I think IView may be as good in some areas, almost as good in most areas, is faster, and supports Mac as well as PC (IDI is PC only), but for an extra $100+ I can deal with a little less speed in exchange for overall better features and a better implementation-and I do not need a cross-platform solution. And he implements changes in the program faster and more elegantly than most of us can describe them in plain English-and I type pretty fast!Īnyway, I don't mean to gush, and I have no financial or other interest in IDImager, but I really think it is head and shoulders above the rest, and getting better almost daily. And it is the three-tier structure that gives it the leg up over the competition in all of the other areas of importance such as the forward/backward compatibility with other programs, IPTC/XMP, etc. It has gotten faster with each new release (there have been three releases since I started looking at in January!) and is fast enough even now.

IDImager has all of these in spades, with the possible exception of speed-because it uses a three-tier structure (I am no programmer, but my understanding is that there is a layer between the database and the GUI), it is not as fast as IMatch. To me, the most important things are (sort of in order) total forward and backward compatability, ease of use, breadth and depth of features, frequency of udpates/bug fixes/enhancements, speed, and price. I just pulled the trigger on IDImager about a week and a half ago (after completing the 21 day trial) and I am very happy I did. But ACDSee/Mac users might want to contact ACDSee systems.I seriously considered IView, ACDSee (well, I didn't consider ACDSee for long after I looked into it), IMatch, and IDImager very recently. I don't know when, or even if the Mac version will get these upgrades.

#ACDSEE FORUM UPGRADE#

It looks like most existing ACDSee users need to start budgeting for this upgrade to me.

  • Improved HDR, and Focus Stacking capabilities.
  • Improved Noise reduction, Still manual, but offers much more control.
  • Selection Basket, seems similar to the photobasket in Manage mode, but allows one to manage selections outside of a single photo.
  • SVG file support (Scalable Vector Graphics).
  • There seems to be much more flexibility beyond the simple database wide Calendar view.
  • A new Media mode tab, which seems to replace the "Photos" Tab.
  • But there are some significant upgrades to both management and Develop Tabs, along with a new tab altogether. It seems mostly to affect the Edit Tab, and I suspect that is a result of the Gemstone beta.

It was released a couple of days ago to almost no fanfare, but I think this is shaping up to a significant upgrade.
